Rotary Club of Duliajan joined with Oil India Limited to raise awareness for cleanliness under "Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan" campaign inaugurated in Duliajan on 2nd October'14. On that occasion around 25 members along with Anns and Rotarylets from our Club participated in a walking rally and swept the roadside trashes in order to make our environment clean & tidy. This program also helped a lot in raising peoples’ knowledge about Rotary’s responsiveness for such worthwhile cause.
Rotary Club of Duliajan, in association with IWC, DJN had organised a two-day TEACHERS’ TRAINING WORKSHOP (under Rotary's T-E-A-C-H mission) in Duliajan to help the teachers in and around its vicinity to develop a comprehensive idea about the newly changes & innovations introduced in the educational systems by Secondary Education Board of Assam, with a focus on effective teaching procedures as well. The program was held on 21st and 22nd October’14. More than hundred teachers from different schools participated in the mega event and got benefited out of the workshop. In order to provide training, specifically in the subject Mathematics, Science and English, several Resource Persons from the State were invited. The program was split into two parts- Inaugural session and Technical session. All the participants and dignified guests were served with free Breakfast, Lunch and Snacks along with free transport and accommodation facilities in both the days. Representatives from SEBA, Guwahati, also took part in the program. The workshop ended with a valedictory session and all the participants were conferred with Appreciation Certificates. One and all attendees appreciated Rotary’s devotion towards such noble cause.
In the month of October, total 3 (three) nos. Vocational Awards were conferred to non Rotarian persons for their commendable service towards community.
1) Mr. Manik Dey of Postal Dept., Duliajan has been presented with the Vocational Award for his sincere service and firm commitment to his vocation through which he has helped individuals as well as organisations in communicating their thoughts and effectively allowing people to be in touch with their near & dear ones.
2) Mr. Ajit Borbora of Medical Dept. (Health & Hygiene) has been presented with the Vocational Award for his long and dedicated service to make the environment clean and healthy and was acknowledged for his praiseworthy role in raising awareness amongst the people about sanitation and cleanliness.
3) Mr. Ramananda Hazarika of Medical Dept. (Health & Hygiene) has also been presented with the Vocational Award for his long and dedicated service to make the environment clean and healthy and was acknowledged for his praiseworthy role in raising awareness amongst the people about sanitation and cleanliness.
With relevance to the observance of Children’s Day, on 14th November’2014, a free medical health check-up camp was organised at Green Bud Progressive High, Bhadoi Panchali. On that occasion around 300 nos. school students went through their medical treatment and got health checked by specialist doctors along with free distribution of required medicines.
On 20th November, another health check-up camp was organised on Bone mineral Density Test, specifically for women employees of Banks, Postal Dept., Schools and local PSUs. On that occasion, all the required special machines along with the resource person were called from Mumbai. Around 100 nos. of working women got benefited out of the program.
A free screening camp for Blood Sugar and Uric acid was organized on 20th December'14. Around 80 persons of the locality were examined....
A Multi Speciality Medical Camp was organised in association with Rotary Club of Tinsukia at Borhat on 25-12-2014. Ophthalmologists, Paediatric, Gynaecologist, Dentists, and Heart Specialist participated on that medical camp and around 300 patients got their treatment along with free medicines.
29th Installation Day Celebration of Rotary club of Duliajan was held at Rotary Community Centre, Kamalabari Road, Duliajan on 27th June 2014. The New Team Leaders for RY 2014-15 under the President of Rtn. Partha Protim Hazarika and Secretary Rtn. Purnajyoti Phukan were installed by the Installation Officer Rtn. Kalpana Khound, Past District Governor of RI District 3240.
The entire installation ceremony was graced by the Chief Guest of the evening Padma Shri Rtn Manas Choudhury, Past District Governor of RI District 3240, Guest of honour Sri Varunodai Sharma, Resident Chief Executive of Oil India Limited, Duliajan, AG Rtn. Nakshatra Bijoy Choudhury, the invited Rotarians from neighbouring Clubs of zone XII of RI District 3240. , Members of IWC Duliajan, Interectors, invited guests of the locality.

85% of the members of our Club were present along with the Chartered members. Most importantly, the total attendance of the meeting including invited Rotarians of neighbouring Clubs, Annes & Rotary lets, Inner Wheel members, Interectors, invited guests were more than 160 numbers and the signed attendance of the meeting was 120 numbers.

Dinner & Fellowship:
The Fellowship & Dinner were served to our best for ultimate satisfaction of the august gathering of invited dignitaries and Rotary Members.
With relevance to the observance of “Rotary Annapoorna Day” in South Asia, called by Rotary International, Rotary Club of Duliajan had also observed the day on 1st July, 2014 and feed around 250 nos. of people of its locality those who belong to BPL category.
Rotary Club of Duliajan had organized a health camp on 3rd August’14 at Saraipung Village, a place located deep inside the Dihing-Patkai forest range which is highly exposed to mosquito borne diseases like Japanese Encephalitis, Malaria etc.
The program was aimed to raise awareness among the villagers against such mosquito borne diseases along with free distribution of around 200 mosquito nets and spraying of mosquito killing agents in the village huts. The program was held in presence of Club President Partha Protim Hazarika, Secretary Purnajyoti Phukan, along with other members like Dr. Amal Kumar Deka, Pallab Pran Duarah, Indira Hazarika, Siddhartha Protim Hazarika, Sunil Borgohain and Dr. Navneet Swargiri.
"WORLD BREAST FEEDING WEEK" was observed by Rotary Club of Duliajan in association with Inner Wheel Club of Duliajan at '' Duliajan Girls' College. The renown Gynaecologist Dr. Anindita Priyadarshini Das offered a highly informative audio-visual presentation on importance of breast feeding coupled with on some common gynaecology related problems specially encountered by the grown-up female students, along with the remedial actions to be taken for the same. The 68th Independence Day was befittingly observed by The Club. On that occasion, in the morning Tricolour National Flag was hoisted in the Club premise with full of dignity, followed by Drawing and Extempore Speech Competition amongst the Members, Anns and Rotarylets. In the evening, an enthralling Cultural Program was also organised in order to provide an opportunity to the Members and their family members to showcase their hidden talents. The program ended with a sumptuous dinner.
On 22nd August’14, our Club has donated a sizeable amount of clothes and food materials along with some other usable household goods to the victims of ethnic conflicts at Assam-Nagaland border. This program was ventured in association with our Interact Club of St. Xavier’s School and Interact Club of Springdales School.
In order to pay homage to all the dedicated teachers and to acknowledge their commendable contribution towards shaping and guiding the students of our society, a day long program was organised by our Club on the occasion of “Teachers’ Day”. Pertaining to that event, a free Hypertension and Diabetes detection camp was held at Duliajan Uccha Vidyalaya. Around 50 nos. of teachers along with school staffs took the benefit out of this program. On that occasion, IPP Rtn. (Dr.) Amal Kumar Deka offered an enlightening speech on dos & don’t against these common and frequently occurred diseases of our people.
Healthy children are the building blocks of a healthy Nation and to ensure our children happen to healthy, Rotary Club of Duliajan has organised a Dental Check-up and a Health & Hygiene Awareness camp with free distribution of required medicines at Bishnu Jyoti High School, Duliajan. Around 150 students belong to less privileged section of our society have through their dental treatment.
We are very sorry to know about the sad demise of Rtn. Col. (Rtd) Tirtha Brata Bhuyan Lahkar, a very meticulous, sincere and punctual Rotarian,
at an age of 85 years. Born on 4th September 1928, he was Charter Member & two terms President of Rotary
Club of Duliajan in the Rotary year 1986-87, 1987-88. Beside, Charter Member of Rotary Club of Duliajan, he was also Charter Member of RC Gauhati South.
Col. Lahkar was commissioned into the Army in 1950 and he retired as Colonel from service in 1981.
Thereafter, he joined the Assam Gas Company Ltd. and soon became its Managing Director. During his stint as the M. D., he took the AGCL to great heights as one of the best managed PSUs of the Assam Government.
Pray to the Almighty that his Noble Soul rest in Eternal Peace.
